“ It’s really a surprise (good) to us that we found really decent authentic food at Madre & Son Soulfood Cafe in Newark while almost every friend told me the best Soul food food is in Newark (we tried 2 restaurants with 4.5+ rate, neither impressed us). Now, I’ll have to disagree with them. The most precious matter we enjoyed is the detail attention the chef dedicated to the food. ”

“ Ordered after a long day exploring the city and I was very impressed! The food was ready in 10 min and it was all very delicious. We had spring rolls which were crispy and tasted very good. We also had the chicken fried rice which was top notch. Lastly we ordered the Chicken and it was PHENOMENAL!! I’ve never tasted anything like it! I would travel back to the city just to have it. Amazing!! ”

Some of the food was a little out there for me, but it was well prepared, the staff was friendly and attentive, and I got to try some things I would never have otherwise. Had an amazing experience here. I loved that everything was made in a traditional way, while using good quality ingredients. I also really enjoyed the comfortable atmosphere and excellent service. I will come again when I visit Newark. ”
