The Merchant Shipping Act of 1867 required of all ships to provide lime juice to their crew to combat scurvy. Lauchlin Rose received a patent for preserving said lime juice. Sir Thomas D. Gimlette was credited with first mixing gin with this lime cordial creating what is now known as the Gimlet. We have recreated the original lime cordial & mixed with the gin of the day, Plymouth Gin, Ca. 1879
